Situation

This client is a custom home builder in regional Victoria. We have worked together for about seven years, through a rebrand, two website rebuilds, and steady growth in the business behind them. The work has never been a single project. It has been a long relationship where each piece builds on the last.

Challenge

A custom builder in a defined region does not win on volume. It wins by owning the searches that matter in its area, by looking and sounding like the business clients actually meet, and by having the systems to handle the work that comes in. Doing that once is straightforward. Doing it for seven years, through a growing business and a changing brand, without the website or the systems falling behind, is the hard part.

Approach

We treated the website as something that grows with the business rather than a fixed asset replaced every few years under duress. Each rebuild matched where the business had got to and reflected who they are and what they stand for. Alongside the public site we built tools to help the business run and to help prospects engage, including an online estimator and the routing of enquiries into their CRM. We supported the search and brand work with advertising where it earned its place. Improvement was continual rather than occasional, because we stayed close enough to keep finding the next gain.
